Lessons are created in the Course Editor which is accessible from the Creator Dashboard. Each lesson consists of content and exercises called segments. The user progresses through the lesson’s segments in the same order as they appear in the editor.
Creating lesson content in Emurse is very fast because an entire lesson can be created from a single list of terms with a few clicks.
Segments
Segments have a title and a card type. The card type determines the kind of content that will be presented.
Automatic Cards
There are a number of different ways to configure automatic cards. Automatic cards take a list of terms and use that list to present the details of a term (images, audio recordings, translations, etc).
In addition to presenting the details of a term, the retention of a term can also be assessed and practiced by utilizing multiple choice, short answer, fill in the blanks, matching, and self-assessment. Retention is assessed in one of four categories: meaning, reading, speaking and listening.
Cards can be one or two sided, and different information can be displayed on the front and back of the card. Things that can be displayed on a card include, but are not limited to:
- Term text
- Term translation or definition
- Picture representation of the card
- Audio recording
- Choose between compact, waveform, pitch contour or dual (pitch and waveform)
- Audio recorder for practicing pronunciation
- Choose between compact, waveform, pitch contour or dual (pitch and waveform)
In multiple choice cards, many of these options can also be used in the answer choices.
Text Cards
Text segments can contain text, pictures and audio clips. These are used for explaining concepts prior to practicing them
Video Cards
Video segments display a single YouTube video.
